During a break in the action
at the California Hot Rod Reunion held Oct. 1-2 at Famoso
Raceway, Jack "the Sheriff” Harris tested a
new compound M&H tire. The exhibition pass netted
an astounding 5.725 at 265.09 mph on the new tire, making
the second quickest pass in the nostalgia class. (Darr

FLOPPER COMMITTEE FORMED
Members of the Nostalgia Funny Car Association met in
Bakersfield over the weekend to discuss rules, flopper
bodies and organization. Over 50 owners, drivers and crewmembers
attended, representing some 26 nitro funny cars already
on the track or under construction. The results of the
meeting was the formation of a body committee to provide
guidance toward defining "period correct" bodies
for the years 1965 to 1979, but Goodguys VRA Director
Larry Westervelt announced no significant rules changes
or performance restrictions for the '06 season.
At the over two hour meeting, VRA Top Fuel owner/driver
Lee Jennings announced his intention to field a nitro
funny car for 2006 replacing his California Trucker digger.
Predictions coming out of the gathering were for as many
as 22 nitro floppers to make the next Goodguys March Meet
for a 16-car qualified field. [10-03-2005]

the ownership of NHRA, the Agent would pony up the entry
