PRO MOD RUMORS AND NEWS
Don't be surprised if yet another very prominent Pro Mod
tuner and driver end up in a Fuel Funny car in 2006. The
Agent was sworn to secrecy, but an announcement could
come as soon as Dallas.
Another rumor the Agent
heard at Dragstock was that Mike Ashley would soon be
taking delivery of an ultra-light '69 Camaro from Tommy
Mauney. The rumor is that the ultra-light will be for
"Outlaw" Pro Mod competition.
The Agent saw Jimmy Rector working in the Tommy Lipar
pits. With Howard Moon supposedly leaving at the end of
this season, maybe Lipar is already making a transition.
Also seen in the pits at Dragstock was Danny Rowe, who
told the Agent that he's working on returning to Pro Mod
competition in 2006 and already has a car. No hint from
him as to what, where, or when, but he seemed pretty positive
he would be back. [10-05-2005]
BADER
BUYS COLUMBUS?!!
Here's one rumor the Agent just couldn't resist passing
along. One of the Agent's operatives in the Cleveland
area called to say that a reliable source in that city
told him that Bill Bader is going to or already has bought
the track at Columbus from the NHRA. That opens a whole
can of possible options involving the Baders, Norwalk
Raceway Park, the IHRA and the NHRA. Now this is the kind
of rumor that warms the Agent's cockles. (Jeff

BRUTON HAS A FEW FRIENDS OVER FOR DINNER
Agent 1320's operative in the Charlotte area called to
say that he heard O.B. Smith has invited John Force, Kenny
Bernstein, and Don Prudhomme to share a meal with him
when the NHRA tour stops in Las Vegas later this month.
The Agent would certainly like to be the waiter at that
gig and can't help but wonder what those four gentlemen
will find in common to discuss. Hmmm? [10-05-2005]
PERRELLO CROWNED SUPERCHARGED
WARRIORS CHAMP
The
Supercharged Warriors were at Skyview Dragway in Tioga
Center, NY, for their final race of the 2005 season. First
round pairings had Joe Veschusio knocking off Mike Himes.
Bob Lascak got by Micky Hale when Hale broke out of the
index. Marty Beno ran a great 5.02 but lost on a holeshot
to John Perrello, which, combined with Himes's loss earlier
in the round, gave Perrello the Point Championship. Scott
Hohensee took a win when John DeCort ran under the index.
The final was a battle of Fiats, the Thriller and Visionary.
Joe Veschusio got the jump off the line and held off Scott
Hohensee in a tight race. The Thriller (shown) ran a 5.05
to Visionary's 5.06, putting an end to the Warriors 2005
tour. (photo courtesy Micky Hale) [10-05-2005]
