FEEDING
THE CHRISTIAN TO THE LIONS

Evidently the Agent got some misinformation which led to
one of those phone calls. “Uh, Mr. 1320,” the
secretary said, “ there’s some guy named Tony
on the line and he says he wants to talk to you NOW!”
The Agent got that queasy feeling and started searching
his memory trying to think if he had dropped that envelope
off after taking a large bath courtesy of the Colts. He
checked his wallet and saw as normal it was empty so he
knew he’d paid the vig so he said to the leggy brunette,
“OK, I’ll take the call.”
The Tony turned out to just be a Christian and, in his
gruff but convincing manner, he whispered into the Agent’s
ear. “ Reher-Morrison and Steve Petty are working
together to build my engines, got it?” The Agent
slumped into his worn out wicker chair, pushed his DRO
hat back on his head, fished an industrial strength aspirin
out of the bottle, and popped it in his mouth. "Tony,
sweetie, it was just a typo. We’ll fix it,"
he said into the phone. The Christian grunted and hung
up.
So here’s the real deal: David Reher and Steve
Petty are working on the engine project together, with
Petty handling mostly the turbocharging end and Reher-Morrison
handling the engine components. . .we think. Is that clear?

CORZINE TURNS OUTLAW
One of the Agent’s favorite starting line drill
sergeants, Bubba Corzine, who has had a long and successful
career doing just about every job there is in drag racing
including being a racer, has signed up with the real outlaws
of drag racing, the ADRL. Corzine has joined the staff
of the ADRL. The Agent believes he will be the Director
of Racing, which is a fancy title for making sure the
racing surface is right and safe, the racers get to the
line on time, and the show goes on as advertised. His
wife will be working in the tower at ADRL races. The Corzines'
long experience on both sides of the guardrails should
greatly benefit that series and give the racers an increased
comfort level. [1-20-2006]
LAS VEGAS ADDS SPORTSMAN EVENT
A new sportsman drag racing event will be held at The
Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Las Vegas NHRA
Sportsman Open, will be contested on Saturday, June 17.
In addition to the sportsman event on Saturday, the track
also will host The Las Vegas NHRA Bracket Open on Sunday,
June 18. The Father's Day event will offer competition
in traditional bracket classes as well as provide an opportunity
for drag racing associations to compete at The Strip.
"The complete class schedule and purse payout structure
will be released in early March once we finalize details
with the various associations interested in the race,"
said NHRA Pacific Division Director Mike Rice. "We
hope this unique opportunity will open the door for a
wider range of participation from non-traditional NHRA
racers." [1-20-2006]
