'THE STRIP' EXPLAINS IT ALL
Our confusion earlier about which Pro Stock teams were
at which event on Feb. 4, was quickly cleared up by Chris
Blair, LVMS Senior Director. The Schumacher cars are among
many at the Showdown in Las Vegas, just a short tow from
Pomona, CA.
Don Schumacher and Bob Glidden
were keeping an eye on the runs.

Blair also gave the Agent a run-down on the improvements
to The Strip that will be a part of Bruton Smith's sizeable
investment in the entire LVMS complex. Next week The Strip
will get a new Compulink timing and wiring system, which
will make it the first track in the country that is totally
fiber-optic. After the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals
on Apr. 6-9, the notorious "dip" in the track
will get a $100,000 fix. A new emergency access gate just
past the finish line in the left lane will make for safer
racing and will make the track better for eighth-mile
racing. Blair says there will be other improvements announced
in the coming months. [2-1-2006]
