JOHNNY GRAY BUILDING A TEN-WIDE
CAR
Agent 1320 has found out that former Fuel Funny driver
Johnny Gray is building a serious, really serious, ten-wide
car for the 2006 season. Our sources report that the former
NHRA fuel coupe pilot is having Don Ness build a ’67
Chevy II and Reher-Morrison build a brace of 738-inch
big blocks. Our source also says that Gray will be working
with Shannon Jenkins and the Speed Tech folks to “nitrous-ize”
the engines.
With professional racers the likes of Johnny Gray, Tony
Christian, and others coming to the Ten-wide the Agent
feels the class is on the verge of becoming a small-tire
Pro Mod class. [1-12-2006]
PROMEDIA PULLS PLUG ON SPORT
COMPACT MAG
ProMedia LLC has announced that they will cease publishing
OverRev magazine after the March 2006 issue. Launched
in 2004, Ove
rRev
covered the street/strip sport compact scene.
"Unfortunately, there has been a continual downturn
in business in the sport compact market and OverRev has
been unable to garner the support required to keep publishing
our title," said ProMedia president James Lawrence.
ProMedia will continue publishing Race Pages and Fastest
Street Car magazines. Paul Heizenga, OverRev's editor
will become editor of Race Pages. David Wong, OverRev's
associate publisher, will head NMRA Digital and NMCA Digital,
two new websites to be launched by the company.
The Agent can't help but wonder how long NHRA will continue
their Sport Compact series, which hasn't exactly been
going gangbusters. [1-12-2006]
