Drag bike racer Jim McClure, of Williamsburg, Virginia, travelled all the way to Australia to beat Steve Moore from Spartanburg, South Carolina. McClure’s Harley-Davidson has twice captured the win over Moore with one more race in the series for the Easyriders’ Top Fuel World Championship. Nitro competitors from Europe and Canada are vying for a $60,000 points fund.

MORE PERSONNEL CHANGES AT NHRA

Add popular press room major domo Matt Blaty to the list of people being re-assigned or leaving at NHRA. IHRA FUEL CHAMP KEEPS STREAK ALIVE IN NHRA

IHRA Top Fuel champ Don Lampus — who now runs with NHRA — kept his string of qualifying for every national event he has entered alive by qualifying on his third chance at Pomona. It looked like the popular Pennsylvania native wouldn't make it after experiencing clutch problems during his first two laps, but the team found the problem and qualified, only to lose in the first round to eventual winner Gary Scelzi.
