  WHAT WAS THAT, PART II

Put this in the “What was that?” file After red-lighting away a win at Houston and reportedly saying “What was that?” WWF driver Jerry Tolliver may have said the same thing after losing in the semi-finals at Richmond.

After defeating Frank Pedregon in the second round he told the television crew there wasn’t going to be another red light, he was going to win the race and that they could “take that to the bank!” He then staged against Ron Capps in Prudhomme’s fuel coupe and ripped of a comatose .712 reaction time and went home - and not by way of the bank.

PRO STOCK TRUCKERS HAVE GAS PROBLEMS
One Pro Stock truck owner told Agent 1320 that there was a problem with “funny gas” in the truck camps. He said there are a least three kinds of gas being used and they need to have a spec gas so that everyone runs the same stuff. The Agent also overheard that the Pro Stock Owners Association will probably give NHRA a proposal to do just that. Hope NHRA has better success with a spec gas than they did trying to have a spec nitro.

OUTHOUSE TO PENTHOUSE, Part II
(ALSO SEE RICHMOND REPORT)
After both of the Jeg’s trucks failed to qualify at Houston, both of them qualified at Richmond. Not only did they qualify but both trucks got to the last couple of rounds with Mike Coughlin just losing to the record holder Randy Daniels with a 7.503 / 179.37 to Daniel’s winning 7.497 / 179.90 in the final. That performance contributed to some of the griping in the Pro Stock pits since the Jeg’s team was reportedly involved with a gasoline controversy earlier this year. It was Daniel’s fourth straight final round.
