Everybody in the business has speculated about it for years (furryears), but now Agent 1320 has proof that famed drag racing announcer Bret Kepner consorts with farm animals. (Oh, OK, actually it was Kepner's Easter card.) Anybody want a bunny?

HERBERT'S' BIG BANG' OPEN HOUSE

Every year for the past nine years, Top Fuel racer Doug Herbert holds an event called "RaceDay" at his Parts Warehouse/Race Shop in Cherryville, NC on the Saturday of Mothers Day weekend. Always a hit with fans, (over 5,000 showed up last year) it's a day that's fun for not only the hard-core racer but for the casual fan.

RaceDay 2001 will be held this year on Saturday, May 12th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Doug's shop on Route 150 in Cherryville, NC. Admission is free and attendees will be able to participate in lot of activities. There's a giant car show featuring stock cars, street machines, hot-rods and of course drag racing machines. Doug will have both of his Top Fuel dragsters on display, Bob Gilbertson's Nitro funny Car will be there and they may be others. There's a Manufacturers Midway featuring all the latest in racing and high-performance parts. Also, every item in Doug Herbert's Performance Parts inventory is on sale at the lowest prices ever and you'll get a free T-Shirt with any purchase. Thousands of dollars in prizes will be given away in a free door prize drawing and Doug even springs for lunch as he serves up hot dogs and soda for everyone.

Two big highlights of the event are: 1) When Doug fires up his Top Fueler in the parking lot so that everyone can hear the noise and smell the Nitro and 2) "The Big Bang" This is when we put a brick on the gas pedal of a car and run it wide open until it blows up! At last years event they blew up a 302 Ford that kicked the rods and caught on fire after about 5 minutes of wide-open throttle. This year they plan to blow up a small-block Chevy.
