RIEGER GETTING NEW PM FROM McAMIS...MAYBE

The Agent reported earlier that Bob Rieger was getting his new Pro Mod from Jerry Bickel. He reported this fact because Rieger told the Agent that he was getting another car from Bickel despite problems he had dialing in his current '57. Now comes the news that Rieger has been seen at Tim McAmis' shop several times to be fitted for the new '57 shoebox that he is getting from McAmis. Can you believe it? -- a racer led the Agent astray. Oh well, that's why the word rumor is in the title for this department, folks.

NHRA CONFIRMS EIGHT RACE EXHIBITION SCHEDULE FOR PRO MODS IN 2002!

NHRA president Tom Compton confirmed to DRO that NHRA plans an eight race program for NHRA Pro Modifieds for the 2002 season. NHRA told DRO that they would be releasing the tracks that would hold the events very soon but it would be a safe bet that they will return to the tracks thhad them during the 2001 season. Agent 1320 would bet that at least one West Coast track or maybe two will be added to the six events that had the pro Mods this year.

ARE THE SS/A AND SS/AA THE NEXT
BIG DEAL IN DRAG RACING?

Just one week after the SS/AA shootout at Indy that paid the winner ten grand, a Mopar show at nearby St. Louis International Raceway is featuring a race for those cars that also pays the winner ten large and the runner-up five. The race is only open to NHRA legal SS/A and SS/AA cars and has a $250 entry fee. Agent 1320 will be at the race to assess the situation and file a report. It does have potential. The burning question is since only 17 of those beasts qualified at Indy, how many will tour and how many clones could get built for this kind of circuit.

One more thought: it would take about 40 of these cars paying the $250 entry fee to start coming close to making the purse off of entry fees.
