B&M RACER APPRECIATION SERIES 2003 SCHEDULE

The B&M Racer Appreciation Series, one of the sport's biggest and largest-paying series of bracket races, has announced its 2003 schedule. Included will be a Pro class, for electronics-equipped cars, Footbrake, for those without, and a new class, with free entry, for novice or first-time racers with street-legal, muffled and street-tired cars that are driven to the track. There will be a total of eight B&M races, including the famous B&M Million Dollar Drag Race, to be held at Memphis Motorsports Park on September 25-28. The B&M season begins on February 27 with the 2002 Championship Banquet, to be held in Montgomery, Alabama. Info: 205-251-7311.

The 2003 races are: February 28-March 2, Montgomery Motorsports Park; March 14-16, Huntsville (Alabama) Dragway; April 11-13, Bristol Dragway; May 9-11, Montgomery Motorsports Park; June 6-8, Memphis Motorsports Park; July 3-6, Huntsville Dragway; August 29-31, Atlanta Dragway;September 25-28, (the B&M Million), Memphis Motorsports Park.

Race promoter George Howard has extended the payout for Pro cars beginning in the fourth round, with those winners receiving round money. In Pro, quarter-final finishers will receive $500, semi-finalists will get $1,000, the Pro runner-up gets $2,000 and the winner gets $10,000. Entry fee for Pro is set at $200, with a $100 buy back first or second round.

In Footbrake, the final 32 finishers will receive money, and the winner gets $1,000, while the runner-up gets $300. Entry is free, with a $40 spectator/pit pass admission. Buy-backs in Footbrake are $35.

Also, Drag Racing Action magazine has become the official publication of the 2003 B&M Racer Appreciation Series, and will showcase all the B&M races, including action photos and results and a separate cover inside. [12-19-2002]
