A DOORSLAMMER FOR NICHOLSON

DRO's resident Bracket/Super Class guru Jok Nicholson is working toward adding a doorslammer to his act. He is looking at putting together a 10.90 car to run with his Super Comp dragster. It will, of course, be a Mopar-bodied and -powered car and like his "Project Four-Link" dragster, it will be a DRO project car. Look for more info on the new DRO project in coming issues of this magazine. [12-27-2002]

ASW AND DRO START BLOWN, PUMP GAS ENGINE PROJECT

And while we're talking new projects, DRO and engine guru and advertiser Scott Walker of ASW Engines are getting together to build a supercharged pump gas motor designed to make around 1,500 hp. Walker worked previously at Jim Oddy's Elma, New York shop and was the shop manager at Oddy/Perfection Race Engines in Florida. He built a supercharged, carbureted, pump gas motor that made almost 1,000 hp while working at Oddy/Perfection.

We have some manufacturers on board and have already begun preliminary machine work. Look for a full run-down on the project and the car that we are going to use to test the engine go to the tech section of the January 8th issue of Drag Racing Online magazine. Manufacturers who have already committed to the project include Kobelco Superchargers, Ferrea Valves and Total Seal. The objective of the project is to build a competitive Top Sportsman blower motor that can be run on 93 octane pump gas. [12-27-2002]
