SPY PHOTO JUST IN

The Agent just received this photo of the Vance & Hines Harley to be ridden by Gary Tonglet. So, what's NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace doing here, hmmm?

MILLICAN TESTS NEW GOODYEAR SUPERCHARGER BELT

Clay Millican and the Lehman Racing team prepared for the new drag racing season by testing in Arizona at the PRO National Warmup, held at high-altitude Southwestern International Raceway outside of Tucson. The team worked with the new Goodyear D1430 slicks and crew chief Mike Kloeber continued to refine a new Goodyear supercharger belt and pulley system. The new belt, used in industrial applications by Goodyear, performed flawlessly on all six test runs and remained ready for use in Pomona. The Werner Enterprises dragster was the first car to make a full run at the PRO National Warmup and finished the event with low elapsed time on the final day of testing with a 4.64 at 318 mph.

IDRC TO HOLD SR-1 TEAM DRAG CHALLENGE

Southern California import and sport compact street racers can have a chance to compete on the dragstrip in a team showdown at selected IDRC events. The SR-1 Team Drag Challenge will consist of four-car teams which will accumulate 1 point for each car's win. The two teams with the most points after the conclusion of the playoff round will face each other in a team-to-team showdown.

All cars must be currently registered, have stock chassis and mufflers. Front-wheel-drive competitors may use slicks, but rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive competitors must use DOT tires. The Challenge will take place on Saturday, with the regular IDRC program on Sunday. First event will be Feb. 23-24 at LACR in Palmdale, Calif. For more info go to www.importdrag.com

'DRAG RACING ACTION' NEW PRINT MAGAZINE TO BE PUBLISHED BY HARRIS

Publisher's Note: There apparently is going to be a new paper magazine covering the sport of drag racing, thanks to the largess of Stanley Harris of Harris Publications in New York City. Scheduled for a June debut, it will titled Drag Racing Action and will be edited by none other than the dean of drag racing photo-journalists, Jon Asher. Jon has previously been the editor at Petersen Publishing's Car Craft Magazine and Drag Racing Magazine, as well as his own American Drag Racing Magazine. My friend Bret Underwood, who worked with me both when I edited Super Stock & Drag Illustrated and here at DRO, will be the director of advertising for the new publication. You can dress him up and give him a title, but he will still be a chicken blower. (Ask him to explain that title.)

Both of these guys love drag racing and with their combined 150 years of experience (maybe a bit less) will try to deliver a great magazine to the readers. Drag racing needs another print magazine, so I urge manufacturers, advertisers and fans to support these guys.

In the meantime, if you crave instant gratification and want the current tech, photography, news, and "InnerViews," you can still get that here at DRO. Seriously though, all of us here at DRO wish the best for those guys and their new magazine.
