SCELZI SIGNS SPONSOR FOR POMONA!

Agent 1320 has verified that the Alan Johnson team has signed a new sponsor for at least the upcoming NHRA Winternationals. A look at the company's website (www.whitecapdirect.com) indicates that White Cap mainly sells to and services general contractors instead of the general public. The company has 43 locations on the West Coast and Southwest U.S. The company claims sales of 370 million bucks, so the Agent would assume that if they wanted to, they could fully fund a Fuel Funny Car operation. The Agent's sources were unsure if the sponsorship was for just one race or for the entire 23 race NHRA schedule.

The Agent was also told that apparently Sclezi's teammate, Bruce Sarver, will be in an Alan Johnson flopper at Pomona that will carry the e-moolah sponsorship that was on Sarver's ride for the 2001 season.

SPIERING ON POWER TRIP

Canadian Pro Modified driver and team owner, Carl Spiering has signed a new sponsor for the 2002 season dubbed "The Ultimate Power Trip." Cutler-Hammer, a part of Eaton Corporation, is a manufacturer of electrical distribution and control products, and joins Pace American Trailers as team sponsors. The car will have an Alan Johnson power plant built by Thundercraft Race Engines. The team will be competing at many races across Canada and a selected number of IHRA events.
