GO TO THE RACES AND GET A MORTGAGE?

In what has to be one of the more innovative ideas to come down the pike in a while, Pro Modified racer Mike Ashley will have a satellite office of Lend-America in his pit area beginning with the IHRA ACDelco Nationals in Virginia. Racers and fans will be able to get pre-approval for a loan right at the racetrack. Ashley is Executive Vice President of Lend-America, a mortgage lender based in Melville, NY. The company has recently embarked on a nationwide expansion plan and has been named the Official Mortgage Company for IHRA.

In addition, Lend-America will sponsor the "Home Run" program during the Saturday Night of Fire Session. The Pro Modified driver who makes the quickest run will receive $500 at all IHRA national events during the 2002 season.

Word comes to the Agent that Ashley will be getting his Tommy Mauney '41 Willys soon, as in maybe this week. Bye, bye Studebaker?
