CANNON AND OAKLEY TEAM UP
WITH ASHLEY AND INFINET
Agent 1320 has learned that there will be a
three-car Pro Mod team next year on the NHRA
AMS Pro Mod circuit. The Agent has been told
that in addition to adding a second car and
driver to his Pro Mod team in the form of West
Coast veteran Danny Rowe who will drive

that
team's '41 Willys, Mike Ashley (who will shoe
the new Mustang GT-500 replicar next year) has
struck a deal with Pro Mod star and former Fuel
Funny car pilot Scotty Cannon to bring his Oakley-backed
'53 Studebaker team in under the Ashley umbrella.
The Agent's operative went on to say that evidently
Chuck Ford will forego his developmental work
with the wedge-headed engines that he has been
flogging for the past few years and switch over
to Brad Anderson Hemis.
Mike Ashley, Scotty Cannon and Danny Rowe under one BIGGG umbrella. John Force,
Don Schumacher and Don Prudhomme will have nothing
on Ashley. [11-04-2003]
BUT WAIT THERE IS ANOTHER THREE-CAR TEAM
One of the Agent's prime sources dropped this
little bomb. Apparently Roy Hill has un-retired
as quickly as he retired. Word has it that he
also will field a three-car team next season
on the NHRA tour. Roy and protégé
Richie Stevens will shoe a pair of Hemi-powered
'Stangs, probably built by Jerry Haas. Rumor
has it that the third driver will be someone
that is currently driving a Mopar. Move over
Fuel Funny Cars, here come the Pro Mods. [11-04-2003]
CAR CRAFT ALL-STAR TEAM TO
RETURN
The
famed Car Craft Magazine All-Star Drag Racing
Team will return in 2004, according to the magazine's
publisher, Jim Adolph. The program was cancelled
for 2003 because of financial problems.
"We've been working on various ways to make the program bigger and better than ever before," said Adolph. "We're also re-working our sponsorship involvement so that the aftermarket and racing-related companies that have been such an integral part of the program for more than 30 years will get more bang for their investment in 2004 and beyond."
Almost 30 drivers, mechanics, builders and sponsors are voted on as the best in their respective categories and the winners will be announced during a banquet to be held Sept. 2, 2004 in Indianapolis during the NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.
"Next year's U.S. Nationals is NHRA's 50th,"
added Adolph, "and we're proud to be a part
of that tradition." [11-04-2003]
