RICKIE GOES INTO TEEN CLUB
AT THE ROCK, MARTIN GOES WITH HIM!
Rickie Smith may be struggling a little with
his driving recently, but his race car is certainly
not. At the recently completed IHRA race at
Rockingham Dragway Smith recorded the quickest
ever pass for a nitrous Pro Mod car. On his
last qualifying lap he improved from a best
of 6.25 and change to a 6.155.
Harold Martin (photo) also joined the nitrous
Pro Mod club with a 6.19 on his last lap picking
up a half-tenth on his previous best that day.
Congrats from DRO to both of these nitrous racers
and a tip of the Agent's fedora to track owner
Steve Earwood for stepping up and spending the
big bucks to fix his racetrack surface. (Jeff

season
beginning in 2004. While the Lucas Oil Drag
Racing Series sportsman categories will be represented
at all 23 events, each category will not compete
at a national event every fifth year.
NHRA says the move was made to enhance the
experience for sportsman teams attending national
events, allowing for more participants in competing
categories, in many cases more qualifying runs,
in some cases lower grading requirements, and
an improved schedule for run times.
