increasing
the launch pad to 660 feet. The top end will
get brand new asphalt on the remaining track
and shutdown area.
The new surface will be laser leveled to provide the smoothest and flattest
dragstrip possible. Houston Raceway Park expects to continue their record setting times on what was the "fastest and quickest quarter-mile track in the world," a record it held at many times over the past decade.
The Agent hopes more of the strips on the NHRA
tour will take the lead of HRP to provide the
best racing facilities for the 2004 season since
some dragstrip surfaces figured into the final
results of races in 2003. [11-24-2003]
PASS THE HAT
According to Seattle's Pacific Raceway website,
they are in the throws of a fundraising effort
to resurface the problem dragstrip. Their website
proclaims, "Pro Racers will not be returning
to the track without resurfacing it to NHRA
standards." Apparently Bud King Kenny Bernstein
has agreed to come back out of retirement, climb
on the lead bulldozer and rip up the existing
surface. Contact www.PacificRaceways.com
