GIMME AN 'I' OR GIMME AN 'N'
Another state of the art dragstrip proposed
for California is I-5 Raceway in Glenn County
at Interstate 5 and Road 27. The new track is
asking for your help in determining whether
to obtain sanctioning from the IHRA or the NHRA.
At press time the IHRA was leading 76 percent
to NHRA's 24 percent. You can help by voting

CAPPS IN THE OFF-SEASON
Snake
Racing Funny Car driver Ron Capps has been trying
to go another way than straight. He was the
first drag racer to take laps in an IROC Car
and has run in the yearly Chili Bowl Race with
Gary Scelzi in a Ford Focus midget racer.
There's a race Capps is really looking forward
to running, the 63rd Mopar "Turkey Night Grand
Prix" tripleheader at SoCal's Irwindale Speedway,
November 27. Ron had a ride set up, but due
to a short supply of engines from USAC owner
Joe Fontana, Capps may end up sitting in the
grandstands as a spectator for the traditional
Thanksgiving circle track event. Capps is crossing
his fingers that a motor might free up from
a swap involving USAC sprint car hot shoe Wally
Pankratz and a different chassis than the one
he was slotted to run.
The Agent hopes that Ron can enjoy his Pumpkin
Pie at the Irwindale oval on Thursday night.
