into one of the largest all-Mopar automotive events in the country, with over 470 race cars, 750 show cars and 23,000-plus spectators in attendance at the 2002 event.

Jeff Johnson of Classic Events expects this event, and the entire tour to continue to grow, saying, "We haven't been around all that long, but the word is getting out about the quality of our events. We try to have something for everyone at our shows, and the Mopar lovers out there have responded."

At the Columbus Chrysler Classic, drag racing action in 16 different eliminators will be available for Mopar racers. The featured category will be the Hemi Super Stock Shootout. The Shootout will be open to Hemi Super Stocks in classes SS/A through SS/FA (12 classes in all), and event organizers will award trophies in all twelve classes, and have posted a $1,000.00 cash prize for the winner. The Hemi Super Stock Shootout is sponsored by Western Plastics of Addison, Illinois.

Complete rules for the Shootout and all other classes are available at www.chryslerclassic.com. [3-27-2003]

NEW CREWMEN IN THE NEWS

The Agent thinks crew guys--those bottom guys that usually lie on their backs under a hot engine or handle smoking clutch parts--just don't get enough respect. In an attempt to help, we're making mention of a couple of new Pro Mod crew members. The Mark Barklage Pro Mod team has hired former CSK Fuel Funny Car crewman Chad Wilson to assist that team and Jim Oddy has brought in Jason Schnettler to work full time on his Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Mod hot rod. Schnettler just finished a two and half year college program at the University of Northwestern Ohio that prepares students to work as crew on professional race cars. Welcome or welcome back to the road, boys. The first Bud is on the Agent. [3-27-2003]
