CONSOLIDATION FOR SOME STOCK, SUPER STOCK CLASSES IN 2004?

Attention Stock and Super Stock racers: Agent 1320 hears that NHRA is going to start consolidating some classes to cut down on their numbers. One example the Agent was given was that there might not be a distinction between trucks and cars in the future. Weight to cubic inch would be the determining factor, period. [4-24-2003]

ITEMS NEEDED FOR DRAW AUCTIONS

DRAW (the Drag Racing Association of Women) will hold their first auction of the year at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois, on Saturday, May 31. There will be the usual silent and live auctions, but there will not be a barbeque this year. DRAW's second auction will be held in Ennis, Texas, in October.

If you have something special to donate -- racing collectibles, parts, autographed items, memorabilia, or something custom or handmade, which someone else cannot live without, DRAW needs items for both the live and silent auctions. This is a good time to do some spring-cleaning and find those "treasures in disguise" that will be perfect additions to DRAW's 2003 auctions.

Please forward your auction items to: DRAW Auction - c/o Dave Oxley Construction, Inc., 16556 W. 159th Street, Lockport, IL 60441. Mark your contribution clearly on both the inside and outside of the package so that the item can properly be credited to you. Items should be shipped so they reach DRAW by May 23, 2003. Items may also be dropped off at the DRAW Booth that is located on Manufacturers' Midway at any national event or at the auction site between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the day of the auction, May 31. If you have any questions, please contact Rosalee Noble at csrn@eiu.edu. [4-24-2003]

EL PERFECTO

Will Leitch, racing the IHRA Summit SuperSeries presented by Pontiac at Beaver Springs Dragway, is off to a perfect start with 15 wins, 0 losses and a 0.375 Performance Rating (PR). With three event wins racing his '72 Dodge Dart "Ornery Cuss," this racer from Loganton, PA has quite an advantage over the rest of the Footbreak (No-Electronics) competitors.

Leitch won the championship at Beaver Springs Dragway in 1993, but since then his car has not been too consistent. His performance so far this year has amazed him as much as anybody else. "The faster you go, the more problems you run into. I know it isn't going to last. I'm 62 years old and I know what happens to reaction times," added Leitch.

He also knows what the Summit World Championship would mean to him: "It would be a dream come true." [4-24-2003]
