WAGONS HO!

One of our operatives in Sweden, Peter Nilsson, sent the Agent this shot of a '66 Chevelle wagon that is going to run as a Pro Mod or Top Doorslammer in Sweden during the coming season. The Agent thought you might be interested in a sneak peak at the fast wagon. [4-15-2003]

CROWNHART'S ARMY OF THREE

The Crownhart Family (Diamond Jim Racing) continues to concentrate their efforts on Funny Car racing with their 50th World Series of Drag Racing Funny Car, however, their hearts are now with the U.S Military. Diamond Jim, the patriarch of Crownhart Racing, and his wife, Willy, have three daughters in the military. April (22) is in the Army 203rd front support battalion and Holly (21) is in the Army 51st maintenance unit, 17th battalion -108 brigade and are both stationed somewhere in the Iraq region. Tiffany (21) is in the Army reserves, engineer battalion and is currently in the States awaiting additional orders. Holly and Tiffany are twins.

"I'm very proud of all of them and I hope the job their doing is accomplished and that the soldiers can come back to their loved ones." said Willy Crownhart. "We know they are doing a great job."

The Crownharts next IHRA Funny Car appearance will be at the ACDelco U.S. Open of Drag Racing, May 8-10 at Cordova Dragway Park, Cordova, Illinois. [4-15-2003]

SHANNON JENKINS NEXT TO GET BLOWN? RICKIE SMITH WAITING HIS TURN

Agent 1320 heard from several reliable sources in the Pro Mod pits at Houston that Shannon Jenkins, the defending IHRA and NHRA Pro Mod champ, is going to join veteran nitrous racer Ed Hoover in switching to a blown engine combination. According to the

Agent's source, veteran Hemi engine builder/tuner Steve Boggs who currently is tuning the AFD of New York racer Tony Bartone and is known as a tuner of very fast blown Alky Hemi engines, will be building a couple of engines for Jenkins.

Also, Rickie Smith is rumored to be talking to former Comp Eliminator racer Bob Phelps, who in the past has had some very fast blown gas '63 'Vettes, about a possible deal. In the meantime, Smith says he will leave the NHRA Pro Mod scene and concentrate on running quick-eight races in the Carolina's with the Charlie Buck-built nitrous engines that he currently has plugged into his new Jerry Haas 'Vette. The nitrous ranks are thinning quickly. [4-15-2003]
