NOW THIS COULD BE A REAL 'OIL'
DOWN
From AgriNews (ah yes, the Agent is a voracious
and eclectic reader) comes the news about a
jet-powered dragster which has set the world
renewable fuel quarter-mile speed record. Mark
Smith, the owner and driver of "Air Force One,"
pushed the dragster to 281 mph at Kansas City
International Raceway using 100 percent biodiesel.
What, you ask, is biodiesel? It is an American
fuel made from renewable fats or oils, such
as soybean oil. Smith says there is no difference
in power over regular petroleum diesel, but
he does notice "a big improvement in the smell
of the exhaust." You want fries with that? [5-29-2003]
DOES IT FEEL A LITTLE BREEZY
IN HERE?
Who says the action isn't
fast and furious at vintage races? At the
May 17-18 Goodguys Nitro Nationals at Infineon
Raceway in Sears Point, Calif., the Mallicoat
Bros. supercharged Barracuda had a small
problem.

SECOND CAR FOR KIRKS-HUNT
TEAM
Veteran crew chief Gary Henry will return to
the driver's seat in the same Mercury Cougar
that he wrenched for Gene Wilson during the
2001 IHRA world championship season.

The
car was formerly owned by Charlie Hunt, who
sold it to Billy Huff early last year, who then
sold it to the Kirk family, who parked the car
last year.
Carl and Doug Kirk teamed up with Hunt for
the 2003, fielding a Ford Mustang on the IHRA
Sunoco Pro Stock tour. Adding a sec nd car seems
like a good idea to Kirk. "It provides us with
double the chances at the track and in the end
that could provide a positive outcome for us,"
he said.
Henry will be one busy guy beginning with the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals
in Grand Bend, Ontario, as he also will wrench
both cars. [5-28-2003]
KUHLMANN GETS SOME HELP FROM
UNCLE ROY
Bill Kuhlmann, who has been running his Pro
Mod team this year on his own nickel, got some
help from the Roy Hill School of Drag Racing.
Roy put his school signage on the side of the
Pro Mod veteran's Corvette for the rest of the
2003 season. [5-28-2003]
