SKUZA HITS THE RIGHT NOTE
Though his team continues to look for primary sponsorship, NHRA POWERade Funny Car racer Dean Skuza will soon begin a program with a series of rock and roll personalities to combine his love for music with his racing team.
Beginning with the K&N NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park
in Englishtown, New Jersey (May 16-19) and continuing
through the O'Reilly Auto Parts

Summernationals
at Heartland Park Topeka (May 22-25), Skuza
will team with famed guitarist Zakk Wylde and
his band Black Label Society to promote its
latest Spitfire Records release, "The Blessed
Hellride."
"Being in the rock 'n' roll business, I've seen a lot of crazy things, but this is just mind-blowing," says Wylde, a native of New Jersey who now lives in Southern California. Wylde will attend the event in New Jersey.
The menacing paint scheme will feature artwork from the album and the trademark BLS logos, as well as Skuza's associate sponsors. A collectible car from Racing Champions follows soon after. (Of course.)
Cross marketing drag racing and rock music
seems to be the current trend and, the Agent
thinks, a good deal for both. [5-8-2003]
NAME THAT GATOR
Because our readers are so creative at coming
up with captions for our "At the Back Door"
photo contest, we thought this would be an easy
way for someone to pick up some Amalie Oil goodies.
To celebrate their 100th anniversary, Amalie
Oil is running a contest to name their alligator
Funny Car. Ten prizes will be awarded, with
the Grand Prize an Amalie Oil t-shirt and cap,
autographed picture, four cases of Amalie Oil,
a $50 savings bond, an Amalie Oil diecast Funny
Car, and two tickets for admission to any IHRA
national event. Go to www.hoosierthunder.com
and click on the gator car icon. And tell 'em
the Agent sent you. [5-8-2003]
