NEW COMP ELIMINATOR
PRO MOD COMING
Missoula, Montana Pro Mod racer
Lee Frank, who is a veteran West Coast Pro
Mod/Pro Stock racer, has completed work on
his trick new '41 Willys. He made initial
shake down runs on the car at the ACDelco
U.S. Open of Drag Racing at Cordova after
it came out of Darren Mayer's shop where the
chassis was updated. Now it is going back
to Mayer's shop to get a new Darren Mayer/Alan
Johnson engine and will then run at NHRA events
in the West in Comp Eliminator.
"We're going to race in NHRA
Comp Eliminator the rest of this year and
hope that next year and then run the NHRA/AMS
Staff Leasing Pro Mod series next year," said

ROCCA, DARK
HORSE GOING ROUNDS
After a nearly five year layoff
it didn't take Johnny Rocca long to get comfortable
in his "new" '49 Merc. Rocca qualified third
at the storm-interrupted U.S. Open of Drag
Racing at

Cordova
last weekend with a 6.298 lap and then won the
first round. It was the first time since the
likeable Rocca started driving again that he
has qualified and won first round. The Agent
thought you might like a look at the flamed
"retro" paint on Rocca's "Dark Horse."

PRICE CLOSER
TO HOME
Motorcycle racer Ray Price has
been transferred to the Raleigh (NC) Community
Hospital. Price was injured in a crash at
the AHDRA race in Las Vegas earlier in the
month. He had pins inserted into his broken
right wrist and hand while in the Las Vegas
hospital. [5-12-2003]
