IT'LL BE 'BIG' AND 'CHA-CHA'
ALL OVER AGAIN
Word
comes from Cordova Dragway Park's Scott Gardner
that Don Garlits and Shirley Muldowney have
been booked to race at the 50th Annual World
Series of Drag Racing, Aug. 22-23. This event
is truly the granddaddy of 'em all, and what
could be more classic than a match-up between
these two veteran competitors. The Agent will
definitely be there, be there, be there! (Tim

CLASS NOTES FROM THE PROFESSOR
Pro
Stock guru Warren Johnson stopped by Gateway
International Raceway for the announcement
that Craftsman Tools was renewing their sponsorship
of that facility's NHRA event for four more
years. While he was there several of the Craftsman
people were given a brief course in drag racing
and Warren dropped this little tidbit on them:
the average reaction time for humans worldwide
is .047 seconds. Just a little info the Agent
thought you might like to know. (Jeff

BIG WINNER AT BRAINERD
Chris Zaworski, from Brooklyn Park, MN, outlasted
more than 200 other racers on May 25, to win
the E.T. category and $5,000 during the BIR
5000 at Brainerd International Raceway. He
ran a perfect light at the starting line,
which was the difference in the finals

against
Dan Schei of Anoka, MN.
"This is easily my biggest win ever," said
Zaworski, who's been drag racing at BIR for
15 years. "I won my first Wally last weekend
in Topeka, Kan., (for winning first place
in his category) and I won the Gambler's Race
Friday night, so we're on a roll."
About 250 racers from as far away as Oregon,
Florida, and Canada competed at the BIR 5000,
which featured $50,000 in prize money. (Photo
