founder Gary Stroud was seriously injured in
a traffic accident Late on July 16, while driving
through Alabama to the NMCA race at Pittsburgh.
Also in the car were his girlfriend Stacey and
her sister, April, who were both treated and
released from hospital the day after the accident.
Apparently, Stroud's car was hit by a tractor-trailer
unit during a blinding rainstorm and he received
severe head injuries, as well as pelvic fractures
and ligament damage to his legs. Doctors at
the University of Alabama Medical Center performed
surgery and inserted a tube to relieve spinal
fluid pressure on his brain. His condition is
stable, but he remains in a medically induced
coma.
A trust fund has been established with 100 percent of all donations to be forwarded
to the Stroud family on a regular basis to help
offset their medical bills. All donations, in
the form of checks or money orders, should be
made payable to: Atty. Joseph E. Buckley, Trustee,
and mailed to: Joseph E. Buckley, 100 Main Street,
Brookeville, PA 15825. [7-21-2003]
HOLLYWOOD GOES TO INDY
The Agent hears that K.C. (Hollywood) Spurlock
has put together a deal to drive a Top Fuel
car at the upcoming 49th edition of the U.S.
Nationals. According to the Agent's sources,
the former fuel flopper driver will be between
the tubes of the Carrier Boyz Top Fuel dragster.
These guys could be a threat. If all of the
teams that the Agent hears are going to race
at Indy -- such as Scott Kalitta's and Spurlock's
-- do indeed show up, we could have nearly 30
top fuelers at the event. [7-21-2003]
