ABSOLUTELY THE LAST 1320 NOTE
ABOUT OILDOWNS...MAYBE
One of the Agent's sources said that in a driver's
meeting allegedly held at Maple Grove Oct. 4,
NHRA VP Graham Light told the assembled that
the penalty points for oil-downs were awarded
to and the responsibility of the CAR OWNER!
The question is, will the car owners' name
now appear next to the points tally instead
of the driver's? Next subject, please! [10-7-2003]

for Atlanta Dragway and organizing the marketing
strategies for the facility. He will report
directly to Craig Armstrong, Atlanta Dragway
general manager. Atlanta Dragway is one of five
drag racing facilities owned and operated by
the NHRA; the others are: Gainesville Raceway,
Gainesville, Fla.; National Trail Raceway, Columbus,
Ohio; Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis;
and Pomona Raceway, Pomona, Calif.
Snell, who competed in the 1969 NHRA Winternationals
at Pomona, Calif., in the Stock category, has
worked in sales for several NHRA teams during
his career and has established numerous contacts
throughout the industry. [10-7-2003]
SNAKE IS EXPANDING
One of drag racing's more active legends, Don
"the Snake" Prudhomme has announced plans to
expand his Indiana drag racing shop by adding
13,000 square feet to his existing 17,000 square
foot home. By the Agent's math that makes a
whopping 30 thou. According to a published report,
the expansion will allow the Snake to "add more
cars to his current three-car stable."
Might this space enlargement be making room
for the addition of Melanie Troxel into the
rumored second Miller Lite top fuel dragster
for the 2004 season?
Can you say Less Filling or Great Taste? [10-7-2003]
WAGON UPDATE
Since last week, the Agent had book marked
the online sale of Bill Maverick Golden's Little
Red Wagon on eBay. Well, the auction is over
and the historic Wagon didn't sell, but the
kicker is that the reserve price was set so
high that $245,045.45 left the wheelstanding
icon sitting in the shop. That seems like a
lot of Benjamins for any former drag car, but
if Maverick is really going to retire and hand
over the keys, it's apparently going to take
some cash. [10-7-2003]
