IS THIS A SIGN?
For the third consecutive race, weather played
a major role at an NHRA national event, as heavy
rains on Sunday afternoon forced the postponement
of the final eliminations of the O'Reilly Mid-South
Nationals in Memphis, TN. Racing is scheduled
to resume on Monday morning at 11 a.m., starting
with the three final pairs of Top Fuel cars
and continuing with the remainder of the schedule.
Television coverage has been rescheduled for
Monday, Sept. 22, 6-7 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2. [9-22-2003]
'BAMA 10.5 BASH WASHED AWAY
Mother Nature claimed yet another drag racing
event Sept. 21, as the last round of qualifying
and all eliminations for the Drag Racing Action
10.5 World Championship at Huntsville Dragway
were washed away by persistent showers.

The
event was rescheduled to Nov. 1-2, with Saturday
open for free testing to all previous entries.
In postponing the race, track owner George Howard
said tech cards for the cars in attendance would
be retained for the later date and all racers
and spectators should hold on to their wristbands
and/or tickets for re-entry. For those racers
who can't make a return to the north-Alabama strip
in November, Howard said their entry can be applied
to a similar race at Huntsville next spring.
Additionally, the 10.5 field (and all others
except Pro Mod) remains open to new entries
since there's one round of qualifying to go.
So there's still time for late arrivals to go
after the $20,000-to-win prize money. Racers
are encouraged to contact the track or visit

for details. [9-22-2003]
