"We got to run John Force twice, and we ran quicker than he did twice. My first instinct is to say that doesn't mean anything, but I guess it does." -- Worsham on being paired with the champ in both of his Friday qualifying attempts, and on how Force's performance always serves as a yardstick for the rest of the field

"We want to make progress in smaller steps. In the past, I think we tended to be a little too aggressive. I think we're going to prepare the team to be more consistent." -- Tony Pedregon after two rounds of qualifying left him 9th

"We were a little too overloaded on the first one, and it spun down there. It was running very quickly until then, but it was too quick. We were ahead of almost everyone's pace and we overpowered the track. So, that put us behind a little, and we had to detune the car for the second run, instead of stepping it up like our teammates were doing." -- Burkart referring to Worsham in 6th place, after he wound up 14th after the first day of qualifying

"The motor is very happy and that's very important to a driver." -- Capps after matching his best qualifying effort this year with a 3rd-place start for raceday

"Aside from the first round tire smoker, we're trying to make little steps and little steps, and it keeps reacting. We've just got to smooth it out a little bit at about 100 feet out." -- Gary Scelzi on what it'll take to run fast after qualifying 5th

"We still have a car that wants to do nothing but go down the track, which is very nice, and it's not edgy, so I feel pretty confident when we want to lean on it a little." -- Worsham after qualifying 6th

"For the second pass, we tried to make it go faster and instead made it worse. She started shaking, so I pedaled it, and then I thought, 'what am I pedaling it for, she's not going to go nowhere,' so I shut her off." -- Wilkerson after winding up 7th, on his final qualifying attempt

"I'd rather we not race him, and it's more awkward now than any time in the past. Our cars were essentially equal because we worked so hard in the off season at getting Tony's car up to speed. Our team is in a much better position now than we were back then. Tony is tough and will run right with us. And I can guarantee that the fans will enjoy tomorrow's match. I'm glad we raced each other earlier in the season though because it won't be as big of a deal. May the best team win." -- Cruz Pedregon, the number-eight qualifier, on having to race his brother and teammate Tony in the opening round, just as he did in a losing effort early this year at Phoenix

"It's never fun racing Cruz." -- T. Pedregon on the impending brotherly challenge

"You always like to be in the top half (of the order), but we improved on each of the first three runs. We went for it on the last pass and it just barely smoked the tires. It was just a little too aggressive, so we know where to back off." -- Johnson Jr. after qualifying 10th

"In the third round of qualifying we blew up a left rear tire and tore the body up. So we had to park the Wonder Wagon body this weekend." -- Johnny Gray on why he was sporting one of Whit Bazemore's Matco Tools bodies for his final qualifying attempt, when he slotted into the 11th-place position

"Apparently, we owe him one. We might even owe him four, but I'd like to get one back in the first round here." -- Burkart, the number-13 qualifier, on facing off against Gary Densham in the first round of eliminations at Reading, and referring to Densham's 4-0 record against him this season

"We're excited that tomorrow we will be on the new tire. It's a better tire and apparently it seems to be safer. We want to thank Goodyear for making the effort to develop something that works better for us and I'll be a lot more at ease running the new tire tomorrow than I was this afternoon, knowing that we had one more run to make on a tire that we had had problems with this weekend, both on our car and our teammate's car (Gray). It's a tense situation and we appreciate the effort Goodyear and the NHRA are making to get it resolved." -- Bazemore after qualifying 12th, on the new 1430 tire released for use by the fuel teams just an hour or so before their final qualifying rounds

"Before the first run today the team went through a big thrash, working on some things we normally don't have to deal with. We discovered a problem with one of our motors, so once we knew that we were definitely in the show we skipped the last qualifying session in order to build another motor for tomorrow." -- Jeff Arend after qualifying 12th with his opening shot on Saturday and winding up 14th for raceday
