BACA RETURNS
Not only did David Baca return
to part of the NHRA tour, so did his father
Dennis. Dennis is a very successful northern
California land developer who quit drag
racing in 1981 to concentrate on business.

The elder Baca (above) had
been a West Coast nitro player since his
start in 1958, dominating races at Fremont
Raceway and winning both the U.S. Nationals
at Indy and the Ontario, CA Finals in 1977
then in '78 won the March Meet in Bakersfield.

While not having a close relationship between
the two Bacas, it was the extended family that
brought him back to drag racing and they will
now run 12 to 15 races a year, "But when we
run them, we are going to run them hard." The
new D. Baca & Family team are serious about
the future, having ordered a new car, tractor
and transporter since the addition of David's
new financial partner and father Dennis.
Greg Anderson's Summit
Racing-backed Pontiac swept the Western Swing
becoming the first Pro Stock driver to accomplish
the rare feat. He's the fifth Pro driver to
pull it off. Here Anderson defeats Steve Johns
in the semis.
