Teammates Johnny Mancuso (left) and Steve Stordeur qualified numbers three and four. Mancuso had problems right off the starting line in round 1 of eliminations and Stordeur (6.570/209.62) was taken out in round 2 when Vancil made the quickest pass of the weekend at 6.411/211.79.


Mark Conner aboard Ray Price's Harley qualified No. 2 with a top speed of 218.23 mph. In the semi-final he was first off the line, but had problems and was out of the final round.


In the semi-final, Joe Timmons had the starting line advantage, but Vancil caught and passed him. Vancil ran his slowest pass of the day (6.595/193.07) to get the win.
