Denny Savage is still making passes down the drag strip.  The former Hawaiian and Chi-Town Hustler Funny Car driver now divides his time between working at Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School in Gainesville, FL and his radial tire equipped '87 Camaro powered by a 496 big block with nitrous.  He qualified 5th in the Mickey Thompson Radial Tire class.  He got a first round bye when his opponent broke.  In Round Two he got a freebie via a red light.   Round Three found him running a 8.236/173.07 to stop Richard Stine's slowing 11 second pass.  In the fourth round he ran a consistent 8.244/171.98 to shut down John Fernandez who was late lost with a quicker but losing 8.197/169.42.  This set up the final with Troy Perez who had run 8.291/153.66 in Round Three and a quicker 8.239/157.50 in the fourth round to earn lane choice.  Unfortunately the race was called due to fog and the racers decided to split the purse.
