he Outlaw Racing Street Car Association rolls into Huntsville Dragway this weekend (Oct. 7-9) for its final points meet of the season, with none of its five 2005 class champions yet determined.

With 10 points given just for entering and passing tech, plus a bonus 25 points available for entering all six races this year, these markers should prove a wash for all championship contenders. Qualifying points start at eight for the number-one position and drop one point each for positions two through five. Starting 6th or 7th also is worth four points, 8th and 9th earns three points, 10th through 12th gets two points, and qualifying 13th through 16th adds one point to a racer’s total.

Each round win is worth five points, making a maximum of 25 points available in eliminations, based on a 32-car ladder. Additionally, five points are available for each official ORSCA elapsed time or top speed record established during an event. So, entering the race, qualifying on top, winning the event, and setting both ends of the class record

would garner 53 points before the perfect attendance bonus is applied.

ORSCA’s Outlaw 10.5 class pays $10,000 to win at Huntsville, Limited Street $5,000, the EZ Street and 6.0 index winners will each earn $2,000, and $1,500 will go to the 7.0 winner. There will also be a $3,000-to-win outlaw Pro Mod race with free entry for the car and driver plus three crewmembers.

With racers expected to attend from Texas, Oklahoma, the Midwest and Northeast, as well as all the southern ORSCA regulars, it’s shaping up to be another great event. Tickets to the ORSCA finale cost just $10 for Friday night’s test-and-tune session and $25 each for Saturday’s or Sunday’s action. A $45 weekend pass also is available and, as always, children under 12 are admitted free to Huntsville Dragaway.
