Scott Cannon Jr. was the only Pro
Mod that competed at Moroso, with five Top Sportsman racers
filling out the program. Cannon red-bulbed in the first round.
In the Pro Mod final, No. 2 qualifier Scott Davis of Pompano
Beach, FL, beat Robert Davis (no relation) of Boca Raton 4.530/156.87
to 5.030/128.11. The winning car was a 1997 Chevy-powered
Olds Cutlass, which had transmission problems on Friday night,
but came back with consistent ET's of 4.525, 4.531 and 4.530
on the eighth mile.
Bill Evans tried out this wild new
injector on Saturday night. His experiment lasted for about
900 feet and then disintegrated into many small pieces. He
regrouped on Sunday and made it to the runner-up position.
