ON TWO WHEELS
European bike action has always been a major
backbone of the straightline scene this side of the pond,
and at Easter the main talking points were in two brackets.
In Top Fuel bike, Ian King swept the
board with potentially championship winning form-- number
one qualifier, low ET (a close to PB 6.48), TS (209.29 mph)
and the event win after a no-show from Steve Woollatt in
the final round, with a stock Yamaha cylinder head which
is soon to receive a well earned retirement as a new Puma
billet head awaits the next outing.
Super Street Bike was simply the bracket
of the meeting, with a bumper 16 bike field chasing not
only the event title but the gold rings on offer for the
first four riders into the seven second bracket. Brad O’Connor
picked up one after his turbo Hayabusa propelled him to
a 7.925/186.60 pass in the second round of eliminations.
Jamie Sneddon picked up some gold as
well on his first competitive outing on his newly imported
Honda Blackbird, with tuning calls being made by Paul Watson
under the watchful eye of former owner Kent Stotz. Sneddon
ran a best of 7.898 and briefly held the ACU ET mark before
losing out in the final round of eliminations.
