EXHIBITION
The Santa Pod crowd has always taken
the rocketeers to its heart, and current favourite Eric
Teboul pays tribute to the late great Sammy Miller before
each pass on his phenomenal five second hydrogen peroxide
powered bike. Teboul produced a 5.867/188.41 best over the
weekend, but it’s the eighth-mile numbers (3.642/213.26
mph) that hint at the potential at tracks with a longer
and smoother shutdown area than Santa Pod.
The freezing cold dense air gave jet
veteran Martin Hill the opportunity to set the bulletin
boards alight with the fastest jet car pass in history.
The 336.10 mph TS has drawn the inevitable cries of "fast
clocks" but the incrementals from this 5.79 blast on
full burner out the backdoor and an earlier 5.937/288.86
mph run shutoff at 1000 feet certainly add up. Martin celebrated
in typical Yorkshire fashion with a cup of tea, highly appropriate
given the conditions!
