Dan Horan's crew, dubbed the "Brain
Surgeons" stayed focused and made few major changes
during the weekend. Horan thanked his former crew chief
funny car veteran Dale Pulde for making him a better driver
and tuner on his way to winning the Nitro Nationals title
and setting a new Goodguys record 6.056 ET.
Northern
California nitro veteran Frank Bradley was honored as a
"Hot Rod Hero" by Goodguys. Bradley earned membership
in both the Cragar 5-second club and Cragar 4-second club
driving his potent Top Fuel dragsters.
Goodguys next heads the Fairplex at Pomona for a three-day
event August 5, 6 & 7, where the flopper tuners are
predicting the first 5-second run. Hopefully Top Fuel oildown
and qualifying delays can be sorted out by then.
