Tony Schumacher continued his domination of Maple Grove Raceway, getting the Top Fuel win for the third year in a row. Schumacher got revenge for Larry Dixon's win at the U.S. Nationals by defeating Dixon in the final round and extending his lead in the championship points to 100 points.

Schumacher and Dixon had qualified numbers one and two, and finished the day the same way. In the final the Army-backed dragster ran 4.498 at 323.74 mph against the Miller Lite dragster's 4.572/322.11.

"I raise to a different level when I race Larry," Schumacher said. "There's something about him. He's on time. He's never late. It just brings the best out of you."

Greg Anderson got his seventh win of the season, but his first ever at Maple Grove. Anderson met Jim Yates in the final, both of whom had been given free rides in the semis when their opponents, Kurt Johnson and Jason Line, red-lighted. In the final Anderson's Summit Racing Pontiac GTO ran 6.721/205.19 to defeat Yates's Sea Ray Boats GTO at 6.771/204.57.

The win extends Anderson's lead to 176 points over Kurt Johnson, with four more events on the 2005 schedule.

"There's no way to call it over," Anderson said of the points chase, "but I like my chances a lot better than the rest of them."
