The Don Schumacher mega team had a good day, also taking the bike win for the U.S. Army-backed team. Angelle Sampey's most important win of the day probably came in the semifinals when she eliminated points leader Andrew Hines. Sampey's Suzuki turned in a 7.119/191.21 to a 7.183/187.39 for the Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson of Hines.

"That was a final round right there," Sampey said. "After I beat the Harley in the third round I felt like I'd already won the race."

Ryan Schnitz defeated Chip Ellis in the semi, but Sampey had no problem with Schnitz in the final. Sampey clocked a 7.139/191.84 against the 7.459/181.13 of Schnitz's Buell.

Both Steve Johnson and Matt Smith, involved in the controversial final round at Indy, went out in the first round at Maple Grove.

Hines retains the points lead over GT Tonglet, with Sampey in third position. There is only one more event for the PSM class, Oct. 20-23 at Las Vegas.
