Spuff wasn't able to get a handle
on the track despite producing huge amounts of horsepower,
clipping the barrier his first pass and hitting severe shake
just off the line on his second match up with Smith. A final
demonstration solo under the lights with textbook header
flames at the hit swiftly became a pedal fest that ended
with a shower of sparks as the Showtime car hit the barrier
a little harder this time around. We hope to see the fuel
floppers back on form soon, but...
NDRS Pro Modified
20 other entries tried and failed to
better Andy Robinson's off the trailer 6.295 in Pro Mod
qualifying, the second race in a row 'Gus' has topped the
ladder. And to underline the point, Robinson produced a
6.337/227.19 in the second session that was quicker than
any of the opposition and the first leg on a European TS
record. With the Studebaker clearly in tune with the track
conditions, Robinson was able to make his way to the event
final round where he dropped a huge holeshot (thanks to
a 0.027 RT) on Patrick Wikstrom and then ran away in the
dark with a 6.283/226.26. Stunning stuff!
Despite trailing in the wake of Robinson's
Studebaker pretty much all weekend, Euro ET record holder
Patrick Wikstrom did enough by qualifying number two (6.339)
and getting to the final round to take the NDRS Pro Mod
title over second placed Roger Johansson. With 38 points
scoring entries in the class in 2005 and the now confirmed
move to full FIA status with the 16 car fields staying intact
for 2006, Euro Pro Mod action can only get hotter.
