A 6.286 in testing a week prior to the
event punted Freddie Fagerstrom's hat firmly into the favourites
ring, and also made his C10 the quickest Pro Mod pickup
in the world. When Freddie secured 3rd spot in the field
with a 6.361/221.53 it looked as if the fans favourite truck
would go deep into eliminations, but tire shake bit hard
and resulted in a loss to Norbert Kuno's Dodge Avenger in
the first round.
The Blown Nugget of Switzerland's Rolf
Ammann is a jewel of a car, and the Euro Finals saw the
'38 Chevy taking the loooong way to the finish line on a
wayward 6.743/214 and a new PB to get in the field on the
bump. Any chance of Ammann's mount lighting up the gloomy
light of eliminations day swiftly came to nought in the
first round as the clutch dragged him through stage and
handed the win to Robinson.
Another superbly turned out Swiss
entry is the ex-Mike Ashley Corvette of Bruno Bader. Now
equipped with a blown BAE motor, Bader has been making great
strides with the combination this season and produced a
new PB of 6.602/213.29 to almost match Wikstrom's 6.576/214
in the first round of eliminations.
