The NHRA wrapped up its 23-race schedule Nov. 9-12, at Pomona, CA, where Tony Schumacher completed an amazing comeback to win his fourth Top Fuel championship and his third in a row with a final-round victory that also included a new national elapsed time record.

Also sealing championships at the season ender were event winner John Force, who earned his 14th Funny Car title, and Andrew Hines, who wrapped up his third Pro Stock Motorcycle championship. Jason Line already had the Pro Stock car championship secured heading into the event. Joining Schumacher and Force in victory lane were Greg Anderson, who beat teammate Line in the Pro Stock final, and Craig Treble in Pro Stock Bike.

And as always, the racers tell the whole story through quotes taken from NHRA and team press releases.

"I don't know that there's ever been a single pass in drag racing where so much was on the line in one round. To win it like this is unreal. It's beyond anything that you can ever dream up.”— Schumacher after going 4.428 at 327.98 mph to defeat teammate Melanie Troxel, on heading into the final needing to win the race with a pass quicker than 4.437 seconds to back up a previous run for a national record and gain the 20 bonus points that would vault him over Doug Kalitta for the championship. He won by 14 points over Kalitta.

"It's going to be all about the crew chiefs.”— Larry Dixon making a raceday prediction after qualifying sixth
