In the third round Bill Dunlap took the hinges off the back door with an impressive 6.16 against the Jesse Perkins entry and Jack Harris followed up Dunlap with a 6.15 as Tim Gibson saw tire smoke eat away at his ET. Butch Blair continued on his tear with a semifinal reaction time win over Bill Dunlap with a 6.32 ET. Jack Harris got the hole-shot against Lechtenberg but "Radar" drove around the "Sherriff" at the top end and took the Dale and Kat Suhr entry on a 6.08 trip to the final round.

With the respective crews thrashing to put their aluminum Donovan/Hemis back into working order the track grew quiet for lack of cars. When the nitro finally did hit the cylinders it was in a pair of Nostalgia Fuel Coupes as Nathan Bugg took it to Vicky Fanning with a 6.98 in an all Mopar final. Fuel Altered shoe Richard Langson made a single for the title after Ricky Ruiz lost fire after the backup.

With the sun low in the desert sky, and both remaining Top Fuelers set on full cackle, Roger Lectenburg (above) won the Top Fuel title over Butch Blair with a 6.16 at 237 mph to Blairs losing 6.24/227. That marked the end of the first ADRA event and the beginning of the era of two sanctioning bodies for Nostalgia Top Fuel racing.
