ROMINE GETS SECOND STRAIGHT TF WIN Three-time IHRA Top Fuel World Champion Paul Romine got the win at the inaugural ACDelco Nationals and left Virginia Motorsports Park with the points lead. Romine defeated Roger Dean and Bruce Litton to get to the final round against Jim Head. Head smoked the tires in the final and was cited with his second "black flag" violation of the racing weekend. Romine mashed the pedal and turned a 4.870 time at 300.73 mph. A REAL 'NIGHT OF FIRE' FOR SHIRLEY Drag racing legend Shirley Muldowney competed at the race but suffered a car fire during Saturday's "Night of Fire" and was unable to make Sunday's final eliminations. Roger Dean was alternate, but was defeated in the first round. |
