home-built by dad Dennis, to the semis.
In the early 1960's J.D. Zink drove
for Romeo Palamides. Now he is an attorney in Chico, Calif. and drives
a Jr. Fuel dragster.
Larry Pettit's "Hellfire" set the
AA/FA record at 6.38/235 in qualifying. Here he defeats Rick Hough in
"Nanook" in Round 1.
Rich Howell qualified well at 6.07,
but experienced a giant blower explosion in the first round. He did,
however, win the Pro Nitro T/F points chase.
Dave Hix brought his altered down
from Division 6 and ran a 6.19/198, but withdrew from the competition.
