Gary Scelzi made it past Bruce Litton in the first round, but smoked the tires in the quarter-finals, giving King Kenny the go-ahead.

Jim Yates claimed $50,000 for winning the Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel. It was the second victory for Yates. He defeated Kurt Johnson in round one and Warren Johnson in round two before facing Mark Pawuk in a final-round battle of Pontiac Grand Ams. Yates' 6.899/200.41 just edged Pawuk's 6.911/199.88 at the finish line.
