with Pat Musi (above) dominating the performances
at Moroso's Powerfest. |
PRO OUTLAW
Musi took home the Pro Outlaw champion title
along with $3,000, the low e.t. of the event
(6.664) and the top speed of the event (215
mph). As always, Musi put on a great show in
his 707 c.i. '69 Camaro.
James Clark from Laurel, MS, was Pro Outlaw
runner-up, but broke on the line. The
'97 Monte Carlo's best run of the event
was a 6.675 at 212 mph. (Adam

qualified #5 with a 7.586/184.72, but
shattered a wheel bearing in the traps,
nearly colliding with opponent Scott Davis
and sending him into the grass past the
finish line. Nadeau was unable to fix
the damage before the second round. (Adam

SUPER PRO
|
Wade Lanier
of Palm Beach Gardens, FL won the Super
Pro Bracket race on Sunday in his '67 Camaro.
It was a great door-car vs. dragster match-up
in the final round. He ran against Bruce
Liberman from West Palm Beach and they both
got great lights -- Lanier had a .505 to
Liberman's .502. Lanier dialed-in a 9.42
and ran a 9.440 at 136 mph. Liberman's e.t.
was 7.894 with a dial-in of 7.82 at 166
mph. |
OUTLAW DRAG RADIAL
Armando Navarro from Miami took runner-up
in the Outlaw Drag Radial Class when he
red-lighted in the final round to Troy Pirez
of Seffner, FL. There was a bit of controversy
after this race as Pirez's Chevy blew up
at the long end and was leaking fluids all
over the track. He was put on the tow truck
and taken back to his trailer, and therefore
he was never weighed. After speaking with
track officials, the win light in Pirez's
lane stood. |
Bill Futch's turbo Camaro was defeated in
the second round by Jeff Shaweur. Shaweur's
7.783/180.21 in the final was the quickest
and fastest of the class.(Adam
