SPEED RECORDS FALL AT RED RIVERS RACE!

Inclement weather at Shreveport, Louisiana’s Red River Raceway kept the spectator count down but those who attended the NMCA event saw outstanding performances in Pro Street from Tony Christian and defending champion Bob Rieger.

Christian’s big block, nitrous oxide-injected, ‘57 shoebox ran the fastest laps ever for the type as did Rieger’s turbocharged small block powered S-10 truck. Rieger got the win this time in a classic lift and stab final round.

The Red River race saw the return of nearly full fields to both the Pro Street and Outlaw Street classes with some never before seen cars entered in both programs. As usual in Outlaw Street, it came down to a Ford vs Chevy final between Hank Hill’s IHRA Pro Stock-style, 800+ inch naturally aspirated Ford against Marc Dantoni’s purpose built, NOS-equipped Pro Mod Lumina. Dantoni got his second win of the season giving those two racers a pair of wins each.

Joel Greathouse’s huffed Mustang continued to dominate the Super Street division, and two time World EZ Street champ Gary Rohe got yet another win and reset the speed record at 162+ mph. NHRA Stock Eliminator regular Jeff Teuton entered his Dodge truck in EFI 13 and ran over a half-second under the GT / SA minimum of 13.40 at over 112 mph.
