in Bowling Green, Kentucky, opened for the fifth
Annual Nitto Tire NMRA World Finals presented
by 5.0 Mustang magazine, there were several
that came down to the wire.
PROCHARGER PRO 5.0
The champion had already been decided as Don Walsh Jr. sealed the deal at the Atco, NJ race a month prior. Walsh brought his car to the World Finals, but elected not to race, entering it in the burnout contest instead.
The top dog in ProCharger
Pro 5.0 at Bowling Green was Ross Stomp (left),
who qualified number one with a 6.86 at 206
mph and won the final round against Vic Williams'
Mustang.
MSD SUPER STREET OUTLAW
The hottest class in all of drag racing had 32 cars entered and it took 8.20s to qualify in the top 20! Jim Blair was top qualifier with a 7.76 at 182 mph, but was bumped out in the third round by Glen Rollinger.
Rollinger qualified number
29 and went all the way to the final round win,
his first in NMRA. His 8.04 beat Dwayne James'
8.46.
