ith
completion of the PRO World Street Finals at
Memphis Motorsports Park, the unofficial 2003
PRO world champions were also crowned. They
include Steve Miller (Denso Pro Street), Joel
Greathouse (Nitto Tire Super Street), Ross Stomp
(Flowmaster Nostalgia Pro Street), Nick Rinehart
(Vortech Xtreme Street), Chris Uratchko (TCI/FAST
Pro Stock), Jeremy Taylor (Car Craft Cheap Street),
Jeff Puckett (Hamburger's Oil Pans Nostalgia
Super Stock) and Steve Jones. The Superchips
Open Comp championship points have not been
completely tabulated.
In racing action, Miller
and his twin-turbo truck entered the event with
a slight points lead over last year's champ,
Pat Musi. Miller maintained that lead and clinched
the championship after a semi-final round win.
He faced Musi in the finals and took the win
after the engine builder's car had transmission
problems.
Joel Greathouse survived
all sorts of problems to emerge as the race
and points champion after his car limped to
the starting line and took the green light.
His final round opponent, Ray Sanchez, couldn't
repair his transmission and missed the final
round call.
